A Beginner’s Guide to Amazon KDP

In Just 7 Steps 

Step 1: Create your own Free KDP Account

Go to kdp.amazon.com, sign in with your Amazon account, or create one. This is your author dashboard

Step 2:Choose Your Book Type

Click “Create” and choose:  1.Paperback for print books. 2.eBook for Kindle  3.You can publish both, even for journals and low-content books.

Step 3: Enter Book Details

Fill in your:  1.Title and subtitle 2.Author name 3.Book description 4.Keywords and categories. 5.This info helps Amazon show your book to the right readers.

Step 4:Upload Manuscript & Cover

Use Canva or Book Bolt to design:  1.Your book interior (PDF) 2.Your front + back cover (PDF or JPG). Use KDP’s cover calculator to get exact size dimensions.

Step 5:Preview and Fix

Use the built-in KDP Previewer to check layout, page edges, margins, and fonts. Fix anything that doesn’t look right before publishing.

Step 6: Set Price & Royalties

Pick:  1.Your list price 2.Royalties (60% for paperbacks minus print cost) 3.Which Amazon stores to sell in (US, India, UK, etc.)

Step 7: Click  Publish!

Once you hit “Publish” , your book goes live in 24–72 hours. You’ll get a public Amazon link to share and start selling!
